What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy helps you do what you want and need to do!
According to the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc., occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants help people across the lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). Occupational therapists give you the tools and strategies necessary for living. They evaluate your ability to participate in activities, determine if there are barriers present, and then utilize their skills and creativity to design effective interventions to help restore function. For children, OT services may include skill development for participation in school or playground activities. For adults, services may include regaining lost skills or providing support for cognitive decline. Whatever the challenge, occupational therapists and therapy assistants use their creative skills and client centered outlook to ensure you achieve your goals!
